Kvarnholmen

At the island of Kvarnholmen, in the very center of Stockholm, JM is developing in cooperation with KF Fastigheter over 2000 apartments and over 300000 sqm of commercial space. The island has a rich industrial and architectural heritage and is being transformed over a period of 10 years into a new and lively part of Stockholm. The total investments are estimated to amount around 600 Million Euro. JM has chosen to develop the first phase of Kvarnholmen, Kajhusen, using Building Information Modelling including cost estimations using Tocoman iLink. The Kajhusen phase comprises of three buildings and a garage with in total 54 apartments located right across the famous Djurgården park in Stockholm.

The designers are all required to design in 3D and to deliver the various models at fixed times to the project management. The Architect; Nyréns Arkitektkontor, and Structural Engineer, Knut Jönson Ingenjörsbyrå, both work in Autodesk Revit. The models are linked independently to the cost estimation by JM itself using Tocoman iLink and the cost estimation system MAP.

JM’s design manager comments about the fact that the integration between the design models and cost estimation saves time and provides a better insight of the project costs.
